Logging Progress on Standard Plans
Progress Settings
To log progress towards your standard Pacemaker plan, verify your progress settings. Navigate to the plan you'd like to track and click on Edit. Scroll down to the Progress settings section of the plan display page.
In Pacemaker, you can choose for your plan to adjust based on your progress logged or you can choose for your plan to stay the same as you log progress so that you can see how far ahead or behind you are from your original plan.
Note that you cannot set your plan to stay the same as you work if you have a daily goal or a dynamic deadline based on a fixed amount of work you do each day.
In Pacemaker, you have two choices on how to log progress
- Overall Completed Work - Log how far you've gone with each update. For example, if you have a plan to write 5000 words in one week, each day, you may log progress showing how far you've reached e.g. on day 1, you reached 1200 words, on day 2, you reached 1645 words and so on.
- Daily Completed Work - On the other hand, you may want to log progress based on what you completed in a day. For example, for the same goal, you might say that you did 1200 words on day 1, and 445 words on day 2, and so on
Make sure that the setting matches how you'd like to log progress.
Logging and Saving Progress
Next, click on the Progress button on the plan display page. Premium users may see a tab in place of a button but it will lead you to a page that looks like the following:
Progress entries are ordered from newest to oldest.
You can also use the "Add Progress" button to add progress for different days within the bounds of your plan dates.
Sometimes, you may want to add multiple progress updates per day. To do this, use the Add Progress button to add a new entry on the desired date or you can use the blue '+' sign to add another progress entry below the current one.
Note that you will not be able to log progress on dates in the future or dates before your plan began.
Once you have added your progress in the format you decided on earlier, click the "Save Progress" Button. Pacemaker then celebrates your work with fun confetti! 🥳
Note that you cannot log progress as decimal values yet in Pacemaker. If you add decimal or fractional values as progress, this will mess up your word count totals.
