No Excuses Mode

Pacemaker's No Excuses Accountability is for those who want serious motivation towards their goals. It is an accountability mode where you pledge to pay $10USD for every working day that you miss logging progress. This does not apply to days that you planned on taking off in your plan. As usual, you'll be able to adjust your plan based on your progress or schedule as long as you make plan changes 24 hours in advance. Pacemaker will hold you to your current day's target no matter what. To increase your chances of success, Pacemaker will send you daily email reminders regardless of if you signed up for Premium or not.

  • How do I sign up?

If you're not a premium user or never set up a payment method with us, go to your account settings page before completing this step. Click on "Manage Payment Methods or Manage Subscription" to set up a payment method that will be charged during your accountability pledge. Note that you will not be charged for setting up this payment method.

- Next, create and save a Pacemaker Plan that you would like to be held accountable to.

- Go to the accountability section of your plan display page and set up the pledge you'd like to make.

-Confirm that you've understood the terms of the accountability plan.

  • Once you're set up, your plan header should look something like this

  • Do I need to be a Pacemaker Premium user to use No excuses mode?

No! Any user can use the No Excuses Mode. You'll need to request that it be enabled for each plan you create one at a time.

  • How does it work?

Once you set up your payment method and your pledge settings, we will enable 24/7 monitoring of your plan progress. You must log progress on all days that you plan on working in order to avoid paying your pledged amount. You will receive daily emails in the time zone of your choice to remind you to log progress.

  • How do I end no-excuses mode for my plan?

Simply turn off the accountability setting from your plan display page BEFORE YOUR NEXT PLEDGE. You'll need to do this 24 hours in advance of when you'd like to cancel.

  • What if I do the work but forget to update my Pacemaker plan? What if I forget to account for days I am on vacation?

This is a No Excuses Accountability tool so you will be charged your pledged amount even if you do the work but you forget to log progress in Pacemaker. You are able to adjust your plans with days off 24 hours in advance. Premium Pro users are also able to set up availability events that block off vacation days across all plans.

  • Can I customize how much I am charged if I miss one of my work days?

Yes! The minimum charge per missed day is $5USD but you can pledge a higher number to further motivate you. You can also request that we increase the pledge payment each time you miss a new day of your plan.

  • Do I have to meet the exact target to avoid being charged?

No. Our accountability mode rewards progress over perfection. You only pay if you miss logging progress on days that you planned on working. This excludes planned days off but they must be set up more than 24 hours in advance. Your goals for the current day are always locked in and committed, NO EXCUSES!

  • What happens if I miss a working day and my payment method fails?

If you miss logging progress and paying your pledge payment, Pacemaker will retry your payment method over a few days after your missed work day. If payment still failed, your use of the Pacemaker website will be frozen until you pay the pledge payment. You will not be able to log further progress on your plans until the pledge payment is paid.

  • Can my pledged amount go to a charity or 'anti-charity' of my choice?

No. This is a commitment between you and yourself.
